CSA International Announces New Agreement on Acceptance of Components and Memorandum of Understanding to Save Electrical Manufacturers Time and Reduce Testing and Certification Costs
On November 10th, the Presidents of CSA Group and UL signed an Agreement on Acceptance of Components and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), Annual Meeting and Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.
The Agreement on Acceptance of Components represents a significant achievement as it formally ensures for the first time that UL will accept CSA-certified electrical components when performing end-product evaluations of Low-Voltage Distribution and Control Equipment. Acceptance of specified components will be phased in over the next several months as the two organizations finalize complementary verification and audit procedures.
The second agreement, an expanded Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations simplifies the process for electrical industry customers desiring both CSA and UL marks obtain dual CSA and UL certification through a single test program.
Both agreements will benefit electrical component manufacturers and OEMs by eliminating redundant testing and reducing time to market for electrical products.
