Electrical Safety Authority

Established April 1, 1999 the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) - formerly Ontario Hydro's Electrical Inspection division - is now accountable for electrical safety in Ontario. The ESA was created to assume Ontario Hydro's responsibilities for electrical inspection in this province.

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is an independent, non-government, not-for-profit organization mandated to deliver specific public safety programs and services under Ontario's Safety and Consumer Statutes Administration Act.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), formerly the Workers' Compensation Board, oversees Ontario's workplace safety education and training system. The WSIB also administers the province's no-fault workplace insurance for employers and their workers. As part of this system, the WSIB provides disability benefits, monitors the quality of health care, and assists in early and safe return to work for workers who are injured on the job or contract an occupational disease. The WSIB is funded entirely by employer premiums and receives no funding from the Ontario provincial government
